New MatriX Spacer System Bracket Launched
CA Building Products have supplied over 5 million m² of roof and wall cladding systems incorporating their Matrix Spacer System since it’s introduction in 2011. As one of the leading cladding spacer systems on the market, the original Matrix system, which utilised brackets from 80 to 300mm, included a unique bar which incorporated a 50mm top flange manufactured from 1.5mm thick steel, unlike any other standard bar on the market at the time.
To ensure that the system evolved in line with CA Groups committment to research and development the next step was to enhance and improve the Matrix bracket to ensure the entire Matrix Spacer System remained at the forefront of generic spacer systems in the current market place. Over the last two years a comprehensive programme of design, development and testing has taken place and the result is a patent pending, innovative bracket which will be manufactured in-house to ensure high standards of quality and a robust supply chain.
Enhancements to the bracket include:
- Increase in bracket strength resulting in greater system stability
- Multi-directional twist lock engagement within the bar for ease of installation
- Integrated polypropylene moulded base
- Fully engineered, integrated thermally broken base for FireWall installations
- Option to extend the height of the brackets beyond the current 300mm maximum
- Seamless integration with current bar
To bring this new product to market, we have expended an immense amount of time, resource and finance to provide all necessary testing data required. We have worked with a number of external test houses and approval bodies, such as;
- Lucideon, Stoke – Structural and weatherability testing
- Exova Warringtonfire – FireWall testing
- Sound Research Labs, Suffolk – Acoustics: sound reduction and rain noise testing
Running alongside the extensive testing programme we have been dealing with the all appropriate certification bodies;
- BRE LPS1181 reaction to fire
- FireWall constructions
- Full system Agrément approval
The new bracket incorporates two unique base fixings:
Standard (Blue) is a plastic (polypropylene) thermal isolating pad, incorporating fixing lugs that penetrate the bracket base steel. The thermal break pad engages and locks in to the bracket base. The fixings are installed and due to the design the thermal bridge through the construction is minimised.
FireWall (Red) is manufactured from moulded polyester and is unique to the roofing and cladding industry. This base enhances the performance of the bracket and, as a result, our Twin-Therm® FireWall system has achieved 120 minutes insulation integrity, well in excess of the previous 30 minutes, which is market leading for built-up systems.
This industry leading performance for the Twin-Therm® FireWall system is also appropriate for other applications, such as internal partition walls and backing walls for other systems provided by CA Building Products namely SolarWall® and Prime Rainscreen.
The new MatriX brackets are available from Monday 3rd October and full technical support is available from our Technical Team. All updated drawings and other technical documentation are available directly from the technical team or here on the website.
Please note ongoing projects must be completed using the old Matrix Spacer System to ensure full guarantee compatibility.
